RSVP NowDress your best
The ceremony and reception will be held indoors, surrounded by beautiful nature during a pleasant time of year. We encourage you to enjoy the outdoors at both venues, so please dress your best and bring layers. The temperatures for this time of year can range from 40º–65º F.
Health & Safety
Gathering our closest loved ones for our wedding is a joy and a blessing. Everyone, including you, is entitled to safety, comfort and health. Some of our closest friends and family are immunocompromised and are vulnerable to serious illness. We encourage all guests to be up-to-date on vaccinations for the flu and COVID-19. Use common courtesy; if you feel sick please do not attend.
Children Welcome
Infants and children are welcome to the ceremony and reception. We ask for calmness and quiet from guests of all ages during the ceremony. Children who may become fussy during the ceremony should stay in the nature play area downstairs. Children are welcome to be their fullest selves after speeches during the reception. Childcare is available to those who request it in their RSVP.
Phones, Photo & Video
Photos & videos before and after the ceremony and the reception are welcome. We respectfully ask that you stay in the moment with us and allow our talented photographer to capture the ceremony and refrain from taking your own photos and videos at that time. Please use common courtesy and keep your phones silent during the ceremony and speeches at the reception.
Parking & Accessibility
When parking at First Unitarian, we ask all guests who are able to easily use stairs to park on the large lot on the south side of the building at Druid Hill Dr. and Bell Ave. Guests who need short, accessible walking paths may park at the north lot at Casady and Bell Ave. Please estimate a 30–40 minute drive from Jester State Park to First Unitarian Church.
What's on the menu?
We are making arrangements for a special dinner at the reception — to be announced soon. We plan to provide beer, wine, liquor and non-alcoholic beverages. In your RSVP please let us know what dietary restrictions or preferences you & your guests may have.
In lieu of a wedding registry, Kathryn and Andrew welcome the following:
— Greeting cards and well wishes
— Contributions to our honeymoon fund (give to Andrew; give to Kathryn)
— Select gift cards: Amazon, Visa, Costco, Menards
Gifts may be made in-person at the reception or by using the links above. Any other gifts you wish to bring to the reception are welcome.
In August 2022, we quickly connected over our shared values & interests, meeting up for dinner, hikes and bike rides. Over the past few years our adventures have led us to Denver, Portland, St. Louis, and Decorah IA. We hope to spend our lifetimes visting many cities and National Parks across the US & the world.
In June 2024 we purchased a 1920s craftsman home and brought together Genevieve the Newfoundland dog, Loki the black cat and Vika the white cat. This year we've been establishing a backyard haven for fruits and vegetables, wildflowers, native prairie, pollinators and wildlife.
Together we share a love for nature, gardening, cycling, hiking, museums, art, music and cooking. Andrew has broadened Kathryn's palette for food & wine while Kathryn has infiltrated Andrew's taste for fashion and decor.
On May 18, Andrew surprised Kathryn with a proposal during dinner at Harbinger in Des Moines. She said "yes!" instantly.
We're excited to celebrate our wedding with you.

I'm the Design Director at Aten Design Group, where I've built a values-based career creating websites for nonprofits, museums, libraries, city governments, higher education and more. My favorite clients are the Smithsonian and Los Angeles Public Library.
In 2015, I moved to Des Moines for work. While my family is spread across many states, my hometown is Republic MO, near Springfield where my parents and sister live. I'm an active leader at First Unitarian Church of Des Moines. Recently I've found an unexpected, yet strong passion for knitting.

I'm the Executive Chef in R&D at Mom’s Meals, which focuses on providing nutritious meals to senior citizens, nursing homes and Medicare and Medicaid recipients. I became a chef due to a love for food and a drive to serve others.
I'm a native Iowan who grew up in Marion, near Cedar Rapids where my parents and brother live. I'm a lifelong fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mizzou Basketball and Football. I love a good glass of wine, but Côtes du Rhône is my favorite. I'm passionate about nature, the environment and animals (I've rescued 2 dogs!). On a pleasant day you can find me taking Genevieve out for a walk — barefoot.
